The PR card expires after 5 years and requires renewal afterwards through an application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada. During renewal certain information’s such as travel history, address, and employment history over the past 5 years are required to enable the immigration officer reviewing your application determine whether you meet the residency obligations.
Restoration of temporary resident status: If a temporary resident has lost their status or let their authorization to work or study expire, they may apply to restore that status in accordance with section 182 of Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulation (IRPR).
